Mark Jones BA

Mark Jones graduated from the University of Leicester in 1998 with an upper second class BA honours in Economics. He started work at Information Resources, a market research company, working in the Operations department. He was reponsible for creating and managing sales databases for major UK retailers and international consumer goods manufacturers including Masterfoods, Cadbury Schweppes and Proctor & Gamble. After managing a small team in this area Mark spent some time in a project management role largely looking at the impact to the UK business of global systems upgrades including implementation and testing of new processes.

Mark left work in the summer of 2002 to travel the world and spent the next year visiting Northern & Eastern Europe, North America, Australasia and SE Asia. His interest in other cultures and the natural world took him to a variety of countries including Estonia, Mexico, French Polynesia & Laos.

At the end of 2003 Mark, along with his father Trevor, set up Ophiopogon Ltd, a consultancy based around occupational pension schemes, where he works in a business support capacity and as a Director and Company Secretary. He is also currently studying for an MA in Business and Management in Emerging Markets at the University of Reading.
