Trevor Jones BScEcon, MSc, FCCA![]() Trevor Jones recently took early retirement after setting up new pension arrangements for InterContinental Hotels, Britvic Soft Drinks and Mitchells & Butlers following the demerger of Six Continents PLC (formerly Bass PLC) into InterContinental Hotels Group PLC and Mitchells & Butlers plc. He is Chairman of Trustees for the Mitchells & Butlers Pension Plans and Common Investment Fund, the InterContinental Hotels UK Pension Plan, the Britvic Pension Plan and their Common Investment Fund and the Taylor Woodrow Pension Plan. He is also on the Advisory Committee of the Pension Fund Investment Forum and runs his own consultancy, Ophiopogon Ltd, of which he is a Director. Trevor was Director of Pensions for Bass PLC/Six Continents PLC/Mitchells & Butlers plc from 1997 to 2003. During this time he managed the significant changes to the group's pension plans which resulted from corporate acquisitions and disposals, developments in investment strategy and structure, alterations to scheme design, and finally corporate demerger. These included splitting large pension plans, setting up new plans, creating new DC arrangements, outsourcing and managing major transitions. He became a trustee of the group's pension plans in 1995. Over the previous 25 years Trevor had worked in a variety of roles in Bass PLC businesses. These included Finance Director of Britvic Soft Drinks, Executive Vice President of Holiday Inn Worldwide in Atlanta, Commercial Director of Bass Hotels & Restaurants, Finance Director of the Hedges & Butler wines and spirits division, Planning Director of Crest Hotels, Financial & Commercial Director of Pontins and other holidays businesses and as Manager of the Corporate Planning/Corporate Finance Department. Prior to working for Bass Trevor worked as an Economist for Unilever in London and Paris following graduation from LSE. |
